The material points are.
First Maj Roberts spoke disparagingly of Bruce to his wife
2'd,, He endeavored to induce her to elope with him.
3d,, At divers times he made love to her,
4th He forced her to open the door and admit him when she was undressed.
5th He pulled the clothes off her, or endeavored so to do.

Major Roberts being taken somewhat at a disadvantage, not being able to prove what passed at these private interviews, Submits his Version of the little Affair- As to the first point he says. I think I said Bruce must be off, flirting with some other woman, (See Vol 2 Pg 7. S 15 & 16) As to the second Maj Roberts gently admits, "I did say to her in a joking way, when she complained of her husband, that she had better go the country, not with me however (See Vol 2, Pg 7. S 25 to 29) In regard to the third, the Major who seems to be fond of a joke, says he may have told her she was good looking & loveable, indeed it is very probable he did, concerning
