You may, General, consider that I have not treated some of these charges with the grave consideration which they deserve, but when you reflect that they are preferred against an officer of long & faithful service, by an individual from beyond the sea, by an ex-street car gentleman, who is insulted by the offer of menial Employment, - by an Apostle of temperance who remembers not the little circumstance of one hundred & thirty five drinks, by an individual who thinks not of wounded honor until his per diem is taken away. You will conclude as I have, that while these charges if true should be visited with severe punishment, yet "Parturient montes et nascitur rediculus mus" or in other words this long investigation developes nothing worthy of mention -
