Dr. Benson
Dr. Benson states that he did not lecture in the Hosp'l subsequent to March 14th the date at which Dr. Bell was assigned to duty in charge (See Vol. 2 Pp24 L15).

Dr J.A. Ireland
Dr. J A. Ireland testifies that he lectured in the Hosp'l under an arrangement made by Dr. Benson that Dr. Bell had nothing to do with his lecturing and that he never lectured after March 14, 1867 (See Vol. 2 Pp 51 L)
From the above testimony back for the prosecution & defense it appears that Drs Benson, Frazee and Ireland Med. Professors in the University of Louisville lectured in the Hosp'l by permission of Bt. Maj. Gen'l Jeff. C. Davis Ass't Comm's & Dr. F. L. Town Chief Surg Dist of Ky & Surg in charge of the Hosp'l which permission was granted for good & sufficient reasons.
It does appear that Dr. Bell permitted these lectures to the delivered - it is difficult to understand how he could have prevented the same. He treated the Professors with courtesy he could not do otherwise unless he desired to offend his superiors and conduct himself in an unofficer like & ungentlemanly
