but Dr. T.J. Griffith & Dr. Lytton came Capt Brown asked permission for us to Enter. Dr. Bell said positively we could not Enter as the "Griffiths" were his personal enemies. He repeated this to me most positively. He treated me in a very ungentlemanly manner rudely. Accused the Griffiths of preferring charges against him, when none of them had ever thought of it. We then left" (See Vol. 1 Pg 23 L 1 to 15)
He further states that "Loyal men could not be admitted" (See Vol 1 Pg 23 L 23)

Geo. W. Griffith M.D. testifies substantially the same, with this addition" Bruce came officially, from Capt. Brown notifying me that Dr Bell refused to admit the Griffiths & personal friends, I saw the above named gentlemen except Genl Speed and determined to came & test the matter" (See Vol 1 Pg 27 L 8 to 14) He adds, that after "Thos J Griffith had denied preferring charges against Dr. Bell he (Dr. Bell) "most positively refused them admittance" (See Vol 1 Pg 28 L 1)
