A. B. I was employed in the office of Bt. Brig. Genl C.H. Frederick to duty under Capt. A. Benson Brown.

Q. R. State Nature of your duties:
A. B. [[note]]5[[/note]] Did general office duties; briefed and copied letters. have entered orders, but did not keep the books.

Q. R. In what manner did Maj Roberts treat you?
A. B. Until he came in power he had no authority [[note]]10[[/note]]to order me. Until three weeks before he came in power, he evinced the greatest friendship, gradually he became distant 
When opportunity offered displayed a tyranical and unpleasant disposition, two or three [[note]]15[[/note]] times he declared that Dr Bell wished me relieved and that Dr Bell was an enemy of mine. and had applied to have me relieved. but Dr DeWitt being a sensible man paid no attention, I told Maj. Roberts that I [[note]]20[[/note]] would the first time I caught Dr Bell outside the gate, give him a sound threshing  I took notes of all that transpired that I thought important from time to time, from about Febr'y up to the time of writing, the [[note]]25[[/note]] communication to, General Howards.
Maj Roberts instructed me to take notes of Gen'l Fredericks conduct to be used against  him. This I did. Maj. Roberts was anxious and [[note]]29[[/note]] insisted that I should go on the street
