A.M.W. Said he was ungentlemanly. Wanted her to leave her husband and go with him, tried to do things to her he ought not to do, and all such things as that.

Q.R. Did Maj R ever give you any whisky and where did he get it?
A.M.W. Yes sit, two bottles, said he got it from the Bureau Drug Store.

Q.R. Did he give any to any of your boarders?
A.M.W. Yes, to Mrs Canter on bottle in my presence. 

Q.R. At what date did Mrs Bruce complain of Maj Roberts treatment?
A.M.W. About the last of March and all through April

Q.R. Is your knowledge of Mrs Bruce such as to enable you to testify to her character?
A.M.W. Yes.

Q.R. What is her general character?
A.M.W. A good, pure, and true wife.

Q.R. Name the female servants employed by your while living at 8th and Jefferson Streets?
A.M.W. Mary and Junie, dont know where they live

Q.R. Is there any ill feeling between you and Maj R?
A.M.W. No, not particularly, he has spoken ill of me behind my back without just cause. 

Q.R. Did you know of any improper conduct of Maj Roberts toward any other ladies?
A.M.W. No sir.

Q.R. How did he deport himself at your house?
A.M.W. Very nicely indeed
