weeks to get Bruce employment. He said he would prefer I would not talk to him about the matter that it was closed. He also said during the conversation that Bruce had given dissatisfaction in the office. I then sent for Mar R and told him I would have nothing more to do with it. He told me I could be a mighty lever in the matter. 
This was after May 18, one week. I told him I did not want to be for or against.

Q.R. Why did you think Maj. R's commission in danger?
A.K. Well I heard that there was attempted interference on the part of Maj. R with Mrs. Bruce.

Q.R. Who told you this?
A.K. I was told in confidence by Dr Geo. Griffith after the report came that Bruce was to be dismissed. I counselled Dr Griffith on no account to mention it to Bruce, he said he had not, and agreed it was best to conceal it.

Q.R. Why did you think it best to conceal it?
A.K. Because I feared the consequences if Bruce heard it. And at all events to keep it from the public. 

Q.R. Did Maj R make any propositions to you to stop any action on Bruce's part against him?
A.K. Oh yes.

Q.R. What propositions?
A.K. I forget just what he said, but he would
