passed between Dr Bell and Dr Griffith on the occasion of your visiting the Hospital?
A  Dr Griffith asked Dr Bell if he refused [[left margin]] 5 [[/left margin]] him admission, and if so why. Dr Bell said that he (Griffith) had sent a petition to Washington to have him (Bell) removed. Griffith denied this, saying none of the Griffiths had anything to do with [[left margin]] 10 [[/left margin]] it. Dr Bell then said it is all right if that is the case you are at full liberty to visit the Hosp'l at proper hours, or some such words. Griffith very rudely and in a very discourteous [[left margin]] 15 [[/left margin]] manner contradicted Dr Bell, & Dr Wilson & I consulted and concluded to leave the room. Dr Bell claimed that as Surgeon in charge he had a right to say who should visit the Hospital.

A| No Sir. I knew nothing of it. I have been invited to visit the Hosp'l by Dr [[left margin]] 25 [[/left margin]] Bell, who said that I would be welcome so also Dr D.J. Griffith.
