Known as the oath of office, preference in all cases to be given to be given to honorably discharges officers and soldiers of the US who served in the war during the rebellion.

A Yes, if was forwarded to this office Febry 12th, 1867,

A Upon Lieut C H Frederick.
Q Under what circumstances was Bruce discharged?
A Soon after he had been employed my attention was called by Lt. Burnett A.A.A Genl in this office to the bad penmanship on official papers which had been written by Bruce and forwarded to this office. As he was a clerk
