Seymour letter stating that on April 2nd an outrage was committed at Mellon, Fla., upon a colored boy 14 years of age. his ear was cut off close to his head. that he caused the arrest and tried, found guilty, & they were fined to the full extent of the law. but the criminals are unable to pay the cost & recommends that amount due legal men for expenses incurred in arresting the criminals 100 50/100) be authorized to be paid by the Freedmens Bureau. |

States that he was not aware of being relieved when he arrived at Lake City on his way to Jacksonville. The best of feelings always existing between himself & Mr. C.B. Chase, that Mr. Chase has offered his services to the Gov. gratis as Supt of colored schools, has been unceasing in his labor, & has made no distinction among churches.
