States that the Commission desires to devote itself entirely to the education of the freedman, & has transferred the care & support of the Magnolia (Fla.) Orphan Asylum to this Bureau. Recommends Miss Merrick be appointed Supt. of the Asylum by this Bureau.|

Rec'd bk. Aug. 31. 67. ~ |Requests that Frank H. Webster, Cashier of the Branch at Tallahassee, Florida, be appointed as Bureau Agent at that point. Thinks that the Branch there, will have to be discontinued unless his salary can in part met in some other way.|

Com'r. by the enclosed order, and served at Princeton, Miss., from April to Jany 1866 on the agreement that he was to be paid by the Planters. Done his duty well & to the satisfaction of all, but has received but part of his pay. Has decided to sue for the remainder, and requests information as to certain questions within mentioned.|
