June 19th Returned with letter revoking this appointment enclosed as requested. | New Orleans June 13th 1867 Forwards letter of Capt. S.C. Gold [[?]] A.C. stating that Mr. Frank Moren A.S.A. Comr for Parish of Ouachuta &c has been appointed to the position of Asst. Assessor for said Parish and has filled that position for several months. With the recommendation that Mr. [[?]] appointment be revoked to date from this 30th inst. |

Jollissaint A.S.A.C., stating that John Johnson (cold) complains that Mr. R.C. Moore owes him 3 months wages amt $30.00 for work as engineer on Hewlett Plantation Ascension Parish in 1861. On being requested to state why payment has been so long delayed Mr. Moore states that the U.S. Sequestration Commission retained enough of the crop of the place to pay the hands including Johnson. Asks if it can be ascertained by records of said Commission of 1867 if John Johnson has been paid or not. With the request that the records of the above mentioned Comn which it is thought were sent to A.G.O. with records of the Dept of the Gulf may be examined and such information obtained therefrom as will lend to the settlement of this claim. |
