U.S.A. in connection with other papers in this case forwarded Aug 1" 1867. Aug 23d Recd back with report. | Columbus, S.C. Aug 2d 1867. States that Col. L.D. Childs, is the owner of a resident in Columbus, S.C., which was used by the Confederate Gov't. during the war. After the surrender it was seized by the U.S. Gov't. but was soon restored to its owner by order of the Sec of War. Not long since the officer of the Bureau have laid claim to it again. He requests an order that will restore the property to its owner and prevent further trouble. |

States that Hannah Jane Talbott whose address is care of Mrs Wm Thompson Lynchburg Texas & 3 or 4 brothers & sisters were carried from St. Louis during the war by their master Richard Talbott. They are now sickly & desire to return to St Louis to their friends, who solicits aid from the Bureau in their behalf. They can probably defray half of their own expenses. |

States that he was absent from July 24th 67, by orders of the Sec of War, directing him to report to the Board of Examiners. The same letter ordered him (if he should pass a satisfactory examination) to report to his regiment for duty. He is waiting for some officer to be designated to receipt for the property & stores in his hands. |

The latter was sold to Martin Wilson 14 years ago who took her to Ga. |
