Commr. at Norfolk, Va., requesting authorization to employ an additional Clerk at a salary of $75.00 per month, as the Claim business is very large and important, an average of 250 claims per mo having been heretofore received.- Instructions requested as to whether under existing orders application can be made for a clerk for the purpose specified, etc. A clerk was formerly employed in this Office at this work so there is virtually a vacancy.  |

See V.62 Vol 12  Transferred to "W" | Richmond, August 26, 1867  Reports case of Oliver Minge, slave of John Selden, Charles City, Va., son of Rhoda Porter deceased late of Franklin, St Marys Par., La. viz that in Feb 1866, Rhoda made over to Mr. John Selden, for his benefit, a promissory note of Saml. L. Randlett of Franklin, for $662.00 alas a deed for a house and lot in same place.  Enclosed papers showing correspondence already taken place. Refer to Mr. O'Leary, a lawyer of the neighborhood, and requests that the Local Agent at Franklin make careful investigation and report. -August 28 Referred to the A.C. of La. for report - Oct 4th Recd. back with report and returned to A.C. of Va attention invited to the enclosed report.
