THE UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN MUSEUM OF ART
ALUMNI MEMORIAL HALL ANN ARBOR

October 26, 1965

Mr. Germain Seligman
5 East 57th Street
New York 22, New York

Dear Mr. Seligman:

I am pleased to be able to inform you that the Executive Committee of the University Museum of Art has voted to acquire the Portrait de Baron Paul PĂ©rignon by Thomas Couture for the collections at the price of $10,000.00 quoted in your letters of February 2 and October 1st. Will you kindly send us an invoice in duplicate in the amount and we will see that it is approved promptly for payment.

We are always interested in having as complete documentation as possible on the paintings we acquire. In this instance if you should have a photograph of the painting before it was relined and changed from an oval to rectangular frame we would be most grateful to have it.

I am very glad indeed that it has been possible for us to acquire this fine painting through your good auspices.
