UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN MUSEUM OF ART
ALUMNI MEMORIAL HALL ANN ARBOR

June 8, 1959

Mr. Germain Seligman
Jacques Seligmann and Co., Inc.
5 East 57th Street
New York 22, New York

Dear Mr. Seligman:

I am pleased to report that the Executive Committee of the Museum of Art approved the purchase of the water color sketch of the drawing for the Chapel of the Church of Santa Sabina at Rome, attributed to Odazzi, at the price quoted in your letter of 11th of $1,600. If you will send us a memorandum bill in duplicate we will see that it is approved promptly for payment.

This leaves us with the interesting and somewhat complicated problem of mounting and framing, but I am sure that it is well worth the effort.

We would also appreciate very much receiving any further information you may have on the history and documentation of this water color drawing. As you will recall the drawing bears an attribution in pencil to Sebastiano Ricci. Have you in your files any written statement from Mr. Anthony Clark on the Odazzi attribution, and possibly a photograph of the ceiling of the Capella d'Elci in Santa Sabina? We intend to have one of our graduate students work on the sketch but would like of course to have as much information as you can make available to us.

Warm regards,

Cordially,
Charles Sawyer
