Dear Mr. Sawyer:

Do you have my thanks for your kind lines of May 5th; and as per your request, I take pleasure in forwarding to you today, by air, the watercolor sketch of the
Church ceiling by Odazzi
It is addressed to your attention.

Though the two parts are held under glass, the might separate further on account of the handling: thus do not be disturbed should this happen.

In view of your "special plea" I am reducing the selling price I quoted to you of $1,800 to $1,600 (one thousand six hundred), trusting that this special concession of over 10% will make it possible for your museum to acquire it. I feel certain that if you take into consideration its quality, condition, its especial interest and size, you will admit it is a very reasonable figure, indeed.

It is very thoughtful of you to have so promptly returned the pamphlet on the Tullio Lombardi "Tabarnacle" which I duly received. I do hope, however, that at some later date, you might be able to consider it, as such great works of art of the Italian Renaissance are indeed rare. Do bear in mind, in this connection, that this is not a stucco or plaster, as we see so many which were made after an original in marble or stone.

The watercolor by Odazzi is sent to you on approval and will remain fully insured by my firm while in your custody and in transit boht ways.

Looking forward to hearing further from you in this respect, and with personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
