Dear Mr. Sawyer,

These few lines have a double purpose, for I first want you to know how truly disappointed I am to have missed your good visit a few weeks ago, for the distance that separates us must perforce make your [[strikethrough]] visits [[/strikethrough]] trips to our city rarer than in the past.

I also heard a little while ago from Mr. Meyric R. Rogers that you expressed the desire to have the XIII Century Champleve plaque "Christ in Majesty" sent to your museum. This news gave me considerable pleasure and I do hope that you will be able to recommend its purchase to your trustees.

It is namely, an exceptional example of Champleve Limoges enamel of that period, and in a remarkable state of preservation. But is it not enough to say that Meyric Rogers recommended it to you?

Looking forward to hearing further from you and with best personal greetings,
Sincerely yours,
Germain Seligman
