THE INSTITUTE OF MODERN ART
210 Beacon Street, Boston, Massachusetts
JAMES S. PLAUT, Director

October 6, 1941

Dear Germain:
Thank you for your lines of October second. I suppose that you are familiar with the determined policy of the Institute of Modern Art not to acquire any works of art for permanent retention. At the moment we have no funds for purchase although in time we hope to serve as a purchasing agent in the contemporary field for many of the museums of New England. In any case, I look forward with pleasure to seeing you when I am in New York.

Very sincerely yours,
Jim Plaut
