Mr. Germain Seligman
5 East 57th Street
New York 22

Dear Mr. Seligman:

I received the photographs of the drawings, you were good enough to send last week: I also have talked to several of our trustees about the Watteau; with a little result I fear. There is a building problem afoot to add part of a wing for a newly acquired collection of American paintings. That project reduces the money available for purchase and so , for the time being, I think I am stymied. I shall still come to see you from time to time, if I may, because sooner or later we will have a drawing fund.

I am returning your photographs.

Yours very truly,
Henry P. Rossiter

Curator.
