Dear Mr. Rossiter:

Herein you will find a photograph of the drawing representing "Empress Josephine" by Pierre Paul PRUD'HON.

In spite of my efforts for another negative, you will realize that the opposition of light and shade, especially among the lines is grossly exaggerated on the print, so that altogether it truly does not do justice to this exquisite drawing.

I am particularly glad, therefore, that you saw the original before the reproduction.

With personal regards,

Yours very sincerely,

Henry P. Rossiter, Esq.
