Dear Cockie:

Thanks very much for your prompt reply of February 7th.

I am reluctant to quote you a price on the Redon, for in view of what you write, I fear that the price may be beyond your reach, although, believe me, when I say that I am giving it to you at the very lowest possible figure - I might even say a sub-Museum price - namely, $1,700. which is considerably less than what we ask for it.

If you feel that at this figure there is any chance at all of your consdering the picture, I should appreciate your letting me know. In considering the price that I am giving you, don't forget that this is a fair-sized picture and is consequently much more important and representative than other works by this master of a more microscopic nature. Naturally, I will say nothing to Hetty about all this.

I will let you know in due time should I be coming to Boston next week-end, and with the fond hope that there may be a possibility of doing some business together,

As always -
Yours sincerely,
(Robert M. Levy)
