DEPARTMENT OF PRINTS AND DRAWINGS
CARL O. SCHNIEWIND, Curator

October 17, 1956

Dear Mr. Seligmann:

Mr. Schniewind, who is away from the institute for a few days, has asked me to write you that the Committee on Prints and Drawings decided not to purchase the Tiepolo drawing The Sacrifice. We are, therefore, returning it to you via prepaid express, fully insured, and I am sure it will reach you shortly in good condition.

Needless to say, we are most disappointed not to be able to add this very fine drawing to our collection, and Mr. Schniewind wants to again express his thanks to you for consigning it here for consideration.

Sincerely and cordially,
Eileen O'Leary
