UNIVERSITY CENTER STATION
WILLIAM MATHEWSON MILLIKEN, DIRECTOR CABLE ADDRESS: MUSART CLEVELAND

September 28th
1943

Mr. Germain Seligmann,
5 East 57th Street,
New York 22, New York.

My dear Mr. Seligmann:

Your letter of September 16th came and I was glad to hear from you. I was awfully sorry that the Renoir and Goya weren't reproduced. While the whole Life business gave us good publicity, it was not what I had dreamed of. They took over 50 other pictures, and then had two pages of them cut out because of war subjects which they thought were more important. Furthermore, they chose their color things form New York, and sent a man out to take them. If they had come themselves, it would have been more intelligent. However, in spite of inadequate and in some cases incorrect captions, we have to be thankful for a lot of unpaid and excellent publicity.

Harrison Tweed, the lawyer, is in charge of the Grace Rainey Rogers Estate and he might be able to give you some information. His address is: Milbank, Tweed and Hope, 15 Broad Street, New York city, New York.

I don't know whether I will be in the East for some time, but when I am you can count on my coming to see you.

Yours sincerely,
William M. Milliken
