Dear Mr. Milliken: 

The silence of LIFE MAGAZINE in connection with the publicity of your purchase of the RENOIR and GOYA had been a "thorn in my flesh" - the more so, as I had gone to the trouble of securing an introduction. At long last - patience is definitely a gront quality - a few days ago I received a letter of which I am enclosing a copy herein. I realize that it will be of very little interest to you, except that it does tell us that we cant expect them to be reproduced. However, between you and me, I can hardly follow their reasoning, as one would think that having taken such pains to reproduce the painting of your museum, they would have gone out of their way to add to the interests of the article, the Renoir and the Goya. Of course newspaper people may have a conception of art entirely different from ours and the set-up of an article might be considered more important than the addition of two such capital paintings. 

Now, may I take the liberty of asking whether you would mind telling me who is taking care of the Estate of Mrs. Rainey Rogers, es, though it was quote some years ago that I was at her house, I remember some interesting drawings. However, should you be
