WILLIAM MATHEWSON MILLIKEN, DIRECTOR CABLE ADDRESS: MUSART CLEVELAND

November 14, 1942.

Mr. Germain Seligmann
5 East 57th Street
New York, New York

My dear Mr. Seligmann:

I am glad to be able to tell you now that the Trustees have approved the purchase of the Renoir portrait at the figure $45,000.00. Will you be good enough to send me the bill for this, and we will send you at once the check for $36,000, paying the additional $9,000.00 by the end of the year. I trust that this delayed payment of a portion of the amount will be agreeable to you.

I can't say how happy I am that the picture is finally ours, and wish to express to you our gratification that your firm is represented in both the fields of sculpture and painting by objects which rank among the finest things we own.

Again, with my compliments, I am,

Very sincerely yours,

William M. Milliken,
Director.
