I was sorry to miss you in New York, but my time was to short that I did not have a chance to get back. 

I answer your letter at once. The portrait you mention was given to us by the heirs in memory of their mother, so it is a part of our permanent collection.

Please excuse the post card - we are saving in every way possible.
