July 9th, 1941

My dear Mr. Milliken:

Allow me to acknowledge receipt of your kind lines of July 7th and the information you give me regarding the Gauguin from the Bliss Collection.

I am very sorry indeed that you are unable to consider it at the moment, as the price which the Museum of Modern Art has put on it seems to us extremely reasonable. However, you leave a faint ray of hope for the fall and with the season as far advanced as it is today, there may be a good chance of the painting still being available later on. So may I hope that the information on the Gauguin is not filed away too well to be reconsidered in the autumn.

In any case, please feel assured that we appreciate your kind consideration, and with my kindest personal regards,

Believe me to be

Yours very sincerely,

(R. H. Waegen)
