WILLIAM MATHEWSON MILLIKEN, DIRECTOR

CABLE ADDRESS: MUSART CLEVELAND

July 2, 1941.

Mr. C. M. de Hauke,
Jacques Seligmann and Co., Inc.,
5 East 57th Street,
New York, New York.

My dear Mr. de Hauke:

Only now have I realized that I have done a very discourteous thing - I never wrote to you about the enamels which you were good enough to send to my hotel. They were exceedingly interesting and I was delighted to see them.

If we had unlimited funds there would be no question in my mind about acquiring at least some of them. However, it seemed to me that the price was high for what they would do to our collection. It doesn't mean that it was necessarily high in relation to the objects themselves, but only high in what they would do for us.

I hope you will have a good summer.

With kindest regards, I am,

Very sincerely yours,

William Milliken
