Dear Mr. Milliken:

It is a little presumptuous on my part to write to you about the forthcoming Walters Sale as you are, I am sure, fully aware of its importance. I do not feel that I exaggerate when I say that at least since I have been in America which is now sixteen years, I do not recall such an important sale in this country.

I just wanted to say that I am at your entire disposal, of course, to take any bids should you want me to purchase anything for you at the sale.

Aside from the earlier things in the collection, and, of course, the magnificent Renaissance jewels, the 18th century group comprises some outstanding pieces of tapestries and sculpture and, as you will see from the catalogue, a great many of them come from our firm. I am, therefore, particularly well placed to send you all information you may wish to have.

Hoping to have an opportunity to be of service to you, and looking forward to hearing from you,

I remain -

Yours most sincerely,

(C. M. de Hauke)
