March 14th, 1941.

Dear Mr. Cheney:

I am sorry that I did not have a chance of seeing more of you during my short stay in Cleveland, and I want to thank you for having asked me to lunch. Unfortunately, the time-tables were such, that this little reunion was not possible.

I hope that I will have the pleasure of seeing you in Washington at the opening of The National Gallery, or the next time you come to New York.

In the meanwhile, with renewed thanks,
I remain -

Yours very sincerely,
(C. M. de Hauke)
