Mr. Germain Seligman
Jacques Seligmann & Co., Inc.
5 East 57th Street
New York 22, N. Y.

Dear Germain:
It was good to have a talk with you the other day. I only regret I procrastinated so long about the manuscripts and failed to get Mr. Milliken's verdict. As I said, he is very much interested in having the exhibition if you ultimately conclude that it is feasible to have the objects travel. Naturally, he would like to know details of expense and so forth, if such an eventuality transpires.

Regarding the Redons, he would like them to stay here for the time of the first Trustees meeting on November 5th just on the chance we can discuss them. I felt from our conversation, that this would be agreeable to you. If nothing occurs at that time, I think they should then be returned at once to you.

I am wondering what is the situation as regards Mr. Arthur Sachs' Titian at the Fogg. I am told that he is already in New York. I knew he was due sometime. I personally entertain a great affection for that picture; and I have not heard that so far it is "on the move." I am not ready to be specific about it being involved as usual with more than I can handle. But I must sight fairly far ahead. When I reviewed the Tintoretto correspondence, I found that you and I had discussed its purchase as far back as 1938, for which I have the letters. A word in my shell-like ear will be well.

Let me hear at your convenience when you have considered the manuscript proposition.

Sincerely yours,
