September 14, 1951

Dear Germain:

M r. L. B. Williams, one of our Trustees, is planning to make a gift of several fine drawings this fall, and I am in the process of estimating their current value in order to give him a proper figure for his income tax. Since he bought them over twenty years ago, the price may have changed, especially as I know he paid comparatively small sums. I append the list.

Of course, without seeing them it may be difficult for you to judge, but the Degas as least you know, the "Head of Mlle du Bourg" (Mme. Fantin-Latour).

Delacroix Arabs Water color. Two arabs seated on ground. Pen and ink with wash with color. Measurements approximately 8" x 10".

Degas Mille. du Bourg Pencil. Head study for the oil. See: C. M. A. Degas catalogue, No. 57, plate 48. 1,500-

Jongkind Water color drawing. Coast scene. 10" x 12".

Matisse Pencil. One of numerous portraits of the lady with a hat seated in an armchair. Very good one.

This is a little vague, to be sure, but perhaps you could indicate whether you have any ideas what the fair current value would be. I should be most grateful for your help.

Don't do any lenghty inquiring please.

With regards,

Sincerely,
Henry.
