What we expect of a Museum -
Set a plan of purchases in accordance w. [[?]] -

- A - Specialization in certain fields - advantages from pt. of view of learning - simplify to whom to offer certain works of art -
for the museum too - avoiding a certain amount of competition from other museums -

B - Widening their fields of interest - avoiding limiting them to periods & schools popular at time - It is when items are down and neglected they should be acquired - examples - medieval works of art - tapestries - english school etc - with descrimination however - which distance better understanding give us -

C - a wider interest in dwgs. of such merit for better understanding of artists etc - also sculptures -

D - Not look for "masterpieces" which can not be had - a good ptg - by secondary master better than poor ptg. by greater name.
Furthermore - a neglected artist today will become a greater name in future for the constantly diminishing number of works -

E. Prices are no gauge for quality - neglected period & artist are low until recognized -
