CORNING GLASS CENTER PRESS RELEASE
PUBLIC RELATIONS DEPARTMENT

FOR RELEASE: Wednesday pms  Corning, N. Y.
December 9, 1953

The Corning Glass Center will make its contribution to the holiday season with the traditional Christmas exhibition opening on Tuesday.

Entitled "Venite Adoremus," the exhibit is primarily concerned with the Christmas Story.  Art objects loned for the presentation include paintings, sculptures, enamels, tapestries, drawings and books.

The collection contains many extremely fine and valuable items, according to Paul N. Perrot, assistant to the director of The Corning Museum of Glass.  The exhibition treats the Christmas theme with representative objects as expressed in various mediums from the 15th to the 17th centuries.

The exhibit is comprised of five main sections: the Annunciation, adoration of the Christ child by the shepherds and by the Magi, the flight into Egypt and subjects in which the Christ child is the central theme.

Included among the paintings is a panel by the Flemish "Master of Lucia Legend" painted in 1500;  adoration by the shepherds painted by the French artist, Jean Michelin, in the mid 17th century; the flight
