Dear Bro.

I attended a meeting yes, held by the Rev. John Scharfner for the Colored people at the School House on the land of the Hon. Jas. Mullins

There were not very many in attendance but they done their duty:

1st The few who were present & subscribed twenty four dollars ($24.00) per mo. to have a school established for them.

I was told by several reliable white persons who were present that the subscription was all gone, how would be him.

I have no doubt from what I was told there could and will be thirty five dollars per mo. raised for a school and probably more.

2nd Board for a colored teacher in a colored family can be had for seven dollars per mo., including washing, and for a white teacher in a white family, fifteen dollars per mo.
