Dear Sir

Yours of Jan 7th is at hand the colored people here are [[underline]] very [[/underline]] anxious for a school to commence. A white man is far preferable for this place A teacher is wanted at Kingsport a small town about 25 miles from here in Sullivan Co. the colored people are building a house for a school, and have applied to me for a teacher.
A Gentleman from the state of New York has written to me concerning colored schools  I gave him all the information I could and referred him to you for a commission as teacher or at least as the best means of procuring a situation. His address is George Fletcher, Andes, Delaware Co. N.Y
