I exceedingly regret your not getting to Alexandria at the appointed time   I am sorry to say that the tide of. prejudice has got so great that the only alternative left me will be to close the school for some time till we see if any Military protection can be afforded

The union man here together with some of the Colored, have proposed - drawing a petition to that effect   I hope if you can not come yourself that you will write at your earliest convenience
