Dr sir
I am having a hard time with the "colored people" of this place. It seems that they cannot understand any thing - they have got the idea that the "Bureau" will build them a school house. If they just keep cool and do nothing they will surely have one in the Spring. They are put up to this by some of the old citizens of the place. They also tell them that the northern people care nothing for them, that if there is a school house built here that I am to make money out of it - and that is what makes me so anxious to have them get a lot and put a frame upon it. CH I feel sorry for the poor ignorant things. Still I get almost out of patience with them sometimes.
We have our old negro that is making most of the trouble, he is a big person among them but I think they will see after a little that, he is all wrong. He is trying to raise money from the "Legislation" of this state to purchase a lot for the school house -
