Mr D. Burt

Dear Sir

our Church Building here in Knoxville is now completed excepting the lathing & plastering as soon as we can raise monies to have it done we propose to commence a school for Freedmen.

it will cost about one hundred and Thirty Dolls

the lot and the cost of Building has been between thirteen and forteen hundred Dolls, twelve hundred has been raised here amonge the people and paid. we have received no assistence from any of the many Benevolent institutions that have taken interest in favour of the Freedmen.

therefor we make application to you or the Bureau to have this done for us for it is much needed, and will serve a good purpose

Yours Truly
