Sir

I have the honor make the following report and application for aid for the Freedmen of McMinnville, Warren County, Tenn. for to assist them in the erection of a School House.

They have a lot procured, the little of which is good and a house commenced 30x40 feet, from erected of good material and in Substantial form; they have canvassed their own resources and obtained aid from other sources but will lack at least three hundred dollars - $300. They have the promise of a teacher from the Freedmans Aid Society as soon as they can get their house ready. I, therefore, on their behalf earnestly solicit the above am't ($800) from your Department as the only means that we can now see to make them to complete their house and open their School.
