Dear Sir: 
I arrived in this place at 3 o'clock- Mr. Bokum was very glad to see me, he says they have been waiting some time for teacher. The colored people will furnish wood and seats by tomorrow so I can go to work.

My expenses were ticket from Chat. to Knoxville $5.75 from Knoxville to Jonesborough $5.00, Dray .35¢ Total $11.15. Eleven 10/100 Dollars.

Board is $5.50 per week. The freedmen will raise some [[strikethrough]] thirty [[/strikethrough twenty or thirty dollars probably.

By the permission of Mr. Hudson I beg leave to add that I advised Mr. Hudson to board with Mr. Griffith at $5.50 per week, because I found it difficult to find a respectable place at a less price. When you come to see us we can talk this matter over. It is very important that Mr. Hudson should board in a respectable Boardinghouse. Besides Mr. Griffith is an excellent adviser. Mr. Drake
