There may be something paid in tomorrow. The colored people here are all quite poor and several of the best families are sick. Mr Cravath has proposed that I should stop at the Fisk school and take the place of a teacher whose health had failed. I wrote him that my friends were now expecting me home but if I could be spared from home (it would take two weeks to hear from home) I would be willing to stay. I think perhaps Mr Cravath will think it so uncertain that he will prefer sending a teacher from the North but I shall wait to hear from him. I expect to start for Nashville Saturday noon if I hear from Mr Cravath in time, if not, on Monday
