Sir I would say to you in regard to the school, that I have 22 pupils subscribed with a fair prospect for more. I have not been able to get a teacher as yet 
Pleas write to me, and let me know whether you have procured one or not. Direct in care of John P. Mckay.

Mr Hoffman: Answer this, (direct to Lewis Johnson care John P McKay, Franklin) inform him that I have not found a teacher, & may not be able to do so. Instruct him to set the best teacher that he can find at work & induce the colored people to pay him. Tell him to call on me in May & I will let him know what we can do for him.
