Fayetteville May 17th 1867 

Dear Sir
The Negroes of this place kneed a School Teacher very much they have a School House and many children in this Town that ought to be going To School But Can not procure a Teacher there is no coloured school taught in Lincoln County What is the cause We have from five to six thousand Negroes in this County and No Superintendent Could you send them a Teacher they perfer a White man the Negroes of this County is neglected By them because if it is the Duty To See to Them
