Dear Sir

Your letter was received yesterday. In reply I say if you could have been here last night and sean [[seen]] the large audience that I addressed and observed for yourself with what unanimity and approbation they received my speech - your would not call me the Leader of a party and I think you would be ashamed of that bit of advice viz Get away from S. as soon as possible also that note Hagar had passed among the people to the effect that you advised the people not to send their children to me because I was a dangerous man.

Hagar and Key may make you believe such stuff but she and others has hard work to make these people believe it.
