I have have to honor to address you a short letter of inquiry Viz. What steps can we take to have a collored school at this place and get assistance from the Bureau to support the same Madisonville is the county seat of Monroe County and there is not a collored school in this county and the collored people and their children are quite numerous and growing up in ignorance. It is given in by East. Tennessee that this was the worst Rebel county in East Tennessee and it is by the earnest request of the loyal White & Black men that I write you this letter, and if you will give me the desired information you will oblige the loyal community at large
