insure that amount for Smyrna and that they did not expect to furnish transportation home another year, and so declined to recommission us.  The man must be crazy if he expected us to return without any certainty of pay nor means of getting home.  I wrote to Mr. Cravath about our furniture, - thinking if he was going to send any other teachers there he might like to keep it in the house.  But I hear nothing from him in reply, and so I shall have to write to "Uncle" Stephen Burrow that we can not return, and get him to dispose of the furniture as best he can.
