Dear Sir By the advice of Mr Barnum of Memphis I write you in relation to pecuniary aid from the Freedmens Bureau to assist in finishing a House for Church and School purposes for the Freedmen of this vicinity He allows me that our case laws clearly within the plan of the Bureau and that a state of our case will be all that is necessary to secure the needed aid. I am a Presbyterian Clergyman and have been here two years engaged in labours for the improvement of the Coloured population After long delay, and very great discouragements I have one way and another succeeded in raising means
