C.R. Simpson
Agent Kingston:
Dear Sir: I have the honor to ask that you will give me some definite information respecting Thos Childress and his school at Kingston.
1. Is his character good and his education suitable for a teacher?
2. How many pupils has he and what is he paid for teaching?
3. Could a white female teacher (if Mr. C. is not competent) have her board paid by the people in a respectable white family and how much (if anything) could they pay toward her salary?
Please inform me how it is at Post Oak Springs. I wrote offering to make repairs but do not hear from them. We will pay bills at K. as soon as Mr McEwen sends them. I do not hear from him since I sent instructions and vouchers.
Yours very truly
D. Burt
